Dakota Minerals - High Grade Lithium Drill Results

Dakota Minerals - High Grade Lithium Drill Results

Initial analyses of Dakota Minerals maiden drilling at the Lynas Find lithium project show thick, high-grade spodumene intercepts from at or near surface, including 35m @ 2.1% Li2O. The results point to higher than regional average grade of drilled pegmatite, with the overall average grade reporting at about 1.75% Li2O so far, conclusively confirming the continuation of the Pilgangoora system into Lynas Find.

Highlights

  • Initial drilling analyses show thick, high-grade spodumene intercepts from at or near surface, including 35m @ 2.1% Li2O
  • Higher than the regional average grade of drilled pegmatite – overall average grade so far of 1.75% Li2O, consistent with previous surface sampling
  • Single metre samples grade up to 5.57% Li2O - expected to be almost pure spodumene
  • Drilling conclusively confirms continuation of the Pilgangoora system into Dakota’s Lynas Find Lithium Project
  • Results to date show a shallowly-dipping pegmatite, with a potentially low strip ratio suitable for open pit mining
  • Recent mapping & sampling discovers new pegmatites: Lynas Find Lithium Project continues to grow
  • Further drilling results expected in the coming weeks

Dakota Minerals Limited (“Dakota”, “DKO”, or “Company”) is pleased to announce the first results from its maiden drilling programme at the Lynas Find Lithium Project, in the Pilgangoora region of Western Australia. Exceptional results included 35m @ 2.1%, 35m @ 1.75% and 40m @ 1.52% Li2O, with an overall weighted average grade of 1.75% Li2O. These results confirm the continuation of the Pilgangoora system, now the second largest hard rock lithium deposit in the world, into Dakota’s Lynas Find Lithium Project.

Surface geological mapping and sampling during April also discovered new pegmatites, thought to be lithium-bearing, in the immediate vicinity of the Central Lynas Find pegmatite. This points to the growing scale of the Lynas Find Lithium Project.

Lynas Find Lithium Project: Drilling Programme Details

Dakota has now concluded the maiden drilling campaign at its Lynas Find Lithium Project. Six holes out of a total of 26 holes have now been analysed, with the remainder of the analyses ongoing and due to be released in the coming weeks. The drilling was mainly focused on initial testing of the Lynas Find Central pegmatite, with some reconnaissance holes also drilled in the north-east and western extensions. Drilling totalled 1,635m (not including a 35m re-drilled hole), less than initially planned, due to a lower angle of dip of mineralisation than expected. This is considered to be a positive result, as it lowers exploration cost, and improves the economics of any potential open pit mining scenario.

A total of 877 samples, including QA/QC, have been dispatched to the lab, of which 303 have so far been reported. Of the six holes analysed so far, all holes contained significant intercepts of greater than 1.52% Li2O, with downhole widths varying between 11 and 40m wide.

Weighted average grade of the pegmatites was 1.75% Li2O, with the maximum individual grade received from hole 16LC006, with a metre at 5.57% Li2O from 83m (total intercept 30m @ 1.61% Li2O from 56m). The highest grade significant intercept was from 16LC002, with an outstanding 35m @ 2.14% Li2O from surface.

The results conclusively show that the Pilgangoora lithium system, which encompasses Altura Mining and Pilbara Minerals’ projects for a total resource of for 115Mt >1% Li2O, continues into Dakota’s Lynas Find project. In addition, results to date show that Lynas Find contains high grades relative to the regional average. Further work at Lynas Find will include drilling to expand the known area of lithium mineralisation.
